NousPre is a cognitive research platform. A central purpose of our data collection is to generate a structured cognitive profile (“Nous”) from your behavioral data. We take the handling of this data seriously and are committed to transparency about how it is used.

Prediction behavior

• Markets you participate in and the direction of your predictions
• Credits staked on each prediction

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Click paths and navigation patterns
• Attention and dwell-time signals

Cognitive Intake responses

• Answers to onboarding and periodic questionnaires used to initialize or refine your Nous

• Session identifiers and authentication tokens

Nous data

• The structured cognitive profile derived from the above behavioral inputs, including dimension scores, reasoning patterns, and trait vectors

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account and provide Platform services.
• To extract and generate your Nous (cognitive profile) from your behavioral data.
• To display your Nous profile to you and, where you choose, to others.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Platform and our extraction algorithms.
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• To conduct anonymized and aggregated research and analysis — individual users are never identifiable in any published research output.
• To communicate with you about your account, service updates, and changes to this policy.

4. Nous Data — Special Category

We treat your Nous data as a special category given its sensitive cognitive nature.

• Ownership: Your Nous data belongs to you. We process it on your behalf to generate and maintain your profile.
• Processing of your Nous data is based on your explicit consent, given at registration.
• Your Nous data is stored in encrypted databases with access controls.
• We will never sell your identifiable Nous data to any third party.
• We may use anonymized and aggregated Nous data (from which no individual can be identified) for academic research and product development.
• You may request a full export of your Nous data or request its deletion at any time.
• Future on-chain processing: When we introduce blockchain-based anchoring of Nous profiles, we will provide updated notice and, where required, seek your additional consent. On-chain Nous tokens will be under your control.

5. Data Sharing

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We may share anonymized and aggregated data with academic research partners. No individual is identifiable in such data.
• We may disclose your information when required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority.
• We share data with infrastructure service providers (hosting, database, email) who are contractually bound to process your data only on our behalf and in accordance with this policy.
• In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy commitments.

6. Data Retention

• We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for a longer period.
• Anonymized and aggregated data derived from your activity may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.
